Ann Waterman

Ann hates this picture, but
just look at that great smile.

Stop by MPC during office hours or phone the church for information, and the first person to whom you probably will talk is Ann Waterman, our church secretary and bookkeeper. Ann’s official title is office coordinator. She prefers church secretary, but the truth is, no title could do justice to all the hats she wears.  She is editor, administrator, receptionist and manager. If something happens to a member of the congregation, Ann is the first to know. If there is news to be imparted, Ann takes care of it. If somebody comes off the street with a request for assistance, Ann is the first contact. "It pretty much either starts with me, ends with me or goes through me," she says. "Besides the pastor, I’m the primary staff person."  Ann has been doing it and doing it well for the past seven and a half years.

"I love the people," she says. "I love being able to work with all kinds of people."
It’s a visceral reward she wasn’t getting in private business.

"I left the business world for medical reasons, but it wasn’t fulfilling," she says. "I literally stumbled into this job. I knew the pastor and the position came open coincidentally when I left my previous employment."

It’s become a labor of love. In fact, Ann enjoys the work so much she took a part-time job one day per week with Smith Memorial Presbyterian as bookkeeper.
